Making Comfort Brownies

Every now and then, its nice to indulge. But, if I’m going to do so, may as well put the effort into making themself. Therefore, brownies. Here’s how:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 175°C. Grease some baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the Butter:
    • In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat once melted.
  3. Mix Sugar and Eggs:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar and eggs. Beat well until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
  4. Add Vanilla and Melted Butter:
    • Stir in the vanilla extract into the sugar and egg mixture. Then, gradually add the melted butter, mixing well.
  5. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips:
    • sprinkle some chocolate chips or chunks into the batter.
  7. Transfer to Baking Pan:
    • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  9. Cool:
    • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack. Once completely cooled, you can cut them into squares.

Alas, this was great to make and always come back to this recipe when feeling indulgent. 10/10
